In 2024, Plant Strong Cotton Varieties With Strong Protection

For planting in 2024, Deltapine® brand Bollgard® 3 ThryvOn™ cotton with XtendFlex® Technology (B3TXF) varieties are going to be in demand due to the strong performance potential these products demonstrated in their first year of commercial planting.

ThryvOn Technology for cotton provides built-in protection against plant bugs and thrips species and can be a game changer for growers. Fewer thrips feeding on the young plants can result in a healthier-growing crop upon emergence, oftentimes reaching pinhead square faster. Later in the season, less damage from plant bugs can lead to better yield potential.

“We are urging growers who have not planted Deltapine cotton varieties with ThryvOn Technology to try some in 2024 and see the benefits this new trait technology can offer,” said Eric Best, Deltapine Cotton products manager. “All Deltapine cotton varieties are evaluated and proven to perform in the New Product Evaluator (NPE) program before they are put in a Deltapine bag and sold for commercial planting and our B3TXF varieties being offered for planting in 2024 have been NPE-proven.”

There were also six Bollgard 3 ThryvOn cotton with XtendFlex Technology variety candidates in a range of maturities and native traits evaluated in the 2023 NPE Program across the Cotton Belt for potential to make it into the Deltapine Class of ’24 commercial offerings.

For each region, there are NPE-proven Deltapine cotton varieties that can help growers make the most of every acre they plant in 2024.

Mid-South and Southeast

Cotton growers in the Mid-South and Southeast have experienced two very different set of stressful growing conditions the past two seasons, yet the Deltapine varieties, when managed well, have demonstrated their potential to deliver yield and fiber quality.

“When you look at Bollgard 3 XtendFlex cotton varieties, the Deltapine Class of ’23 included DP 2333 B3XF, a variety that has the potential to raise the yield bar in cotton,” said Best. “Because this variety demonstrated very impressive yield potential in the Mid-South, Southeast and East Texas markets it will be in heavy demand in 2024, especially by NPE growers who evaluated it in 2022.”
