Sivanto Prime Insecticide Now Available for Additional Specialty Crops

Additional produce MRLs established in Australia and Taiwan
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (January 19, 2017) – Today’s specialty crop growers have unique needs. Bayer is meeting those needs with an expansion of Sivanto® Prime insecticide for foliar use on stone fruit, caneberries and many additional crops. In addition to expanded crops, Sivanto Prime is also now available for soil use on leafy and brassica vegetables.
Sivanto Prime also has received a reduced risk designation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use on stone fruit, avocado and pomegranate. With these new uses, Sivanto Prime is now registered on a broad range of horticulture crops and most broadacre crops, including citrus, pome fruit, stone fruit, grapes, bush berries, tree nuts (excluding almonds), potatoes, vegetables, alfalfa, cotton, sorghum and several specialty crops (such as blueberry, clover, pomegranate and caneberries).
In addition, Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for flupyradifurone, the active ingredient in Sivanto Prime insecticide, have been established, effective immediately, in Australia and Taiwan. These MRLs are available across key crops, including grapes, citrus and potatoes (both countries), as well as leafy and brassica vegetables (Taiwan only). Produce treated with Sivanto Prime can now be traded within the NAFTA region and three of the most important Pacific Rim countries, Australia, Japan and Taiwan.
Bayer is pursuing additional MRLs for Sivanto Prime in the European Union, Hong Kong and South Korea, where similar MRLs are expected within the next 12 months. A full list of the current established MRLs can be found at www.globalmrl.com.
“Growers really like the unique profile of Sivanto Prime, which provides them with state-of-the-art precision pest control that effectively targets harmful pests while helping safeguard beneficial insects – all with a flexible window of application that allows for use when other products often cannot be used,” said Frank Rittemann, product manager for Bayer. “Sivanto Prime is highly selective to many beneficial arthropods and predatory mites when used as directed, making it a good fit for an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.”
Sivanto Prime provides excellent residual control of whiteflies, psyllids, scale, aphids and leafhoppers and can be applied as a foliar spray, a soil drench, shank or drip application, depending on the crop, to allow growers maximum flexibility with their crop protection tools. More information on application methods for each crop is included in the product label.
