Second-Generation SDHI Combination Offers Outstanding, Lasting Control of Foliar Diseases

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (June 27, 2016) – Introducing the next advancement in a long history of innovation, Environmental Science, a business unit of Crop Science, a division of Bayer, today announced EPA registration of Exteris™ Stressgard® – the newest addition to the Stressgard Formulation Technology (FT) family. Exteris Stressgard includes a new active ingredient for the turf and ornamentals market, utilizing succinate dehydrogenase inhibition (SDHI) as its mode of action. Exteris Stressgard is a foliar disease specialist uniquely formulated to offer fungicidal control, plant health and the benefits of Stressgard Formulation Technology in a single solution.

“It’s a constant challenge to maintain peak playability throughout the season – especially when you’re fighting foliar diseases, plant health and golfer perceptions,” said Mike Hirvela, fungicide product manager for the Bayer professional turf and ornamentals business. “That understanding is the reason we continually work to harness the latest innovations in plant health and formulation technology to develop industry-leading solutions that offer the dependability and peace of mind our customers have come to expect from Bayer.”

Exteris Stressgard introduces a new registered use for the exciting active ingredient, fluopyram, combined with the proven control of trifloxystrobin to create a dynamic foliar disease specialist with the molecular precision and agility to provide both preventative and curative control. This unique formulation provides broad-spectrum control of damaging foliar diseases like dollar spot, brown patch and leaf spot while adding additional benefits, such as dew mitigation and fast knock-down of damaging mycelium.

With Stressgard Formulation Technology, Exteris Stressgard also offers immediate aesthetic benefits along with systemic movement and translaminar activity. Exteris Stressgard packs a one-two punch with plant health benefits powered by a different and unique chemical group, when compared to other SDHIs on the market. When Exteris Stressgard is launched, superintendents will have a reliable fungicide that stays where it’s needed and has the versatility to work when unanticipated climatic changes occur on superintendents’ courses.

“We are thrilled to bring this exciting and revolutionary innovation to superintendents,” Hirvela said. “By focusing on the Bayer mission of ‘Science For a Better Life, we aim to provide solutions that incorporate science in new ways to provide the best possible tools for our customers to accomplish their jobs.”
