Flint Fungicide from Bayer CropScience Receives Canada MRL Approval for Use on Strawberries

April 1, 2014

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (April 2, 2014) Bayer CropScience announced today Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for Flint® fungicide have been established in Canada, effective immediately. The recent decision by Health Canada establishes MRLs for trifloxystrobin, the active ingredient in Flint.

“We are excited that Canada has established the MRL for strawberries treated with Flint, as it provides strawberry growers and pest control advisers seeking to export their crop to Canada with a new complete disease control solution,” said Joel Lipsitch, fungicide product manager for Bayer CropScience.

With this new MRL in place, Canada joins the list of major markets with established import tolerances for Flint, among these the European Union, Codex and Japan. A full list of MRLs can be found at www.mrldatabase.com.

For many years, growers have trusted Flint fungicide to consistently deliver outstanding broad-spectrum disease control. In strawberries, Flint provides long-lasting protection against tough diseases, such as Powdery Mildew, Gray Mold (Botrytis cinerea), Leaf Blight and Soft Rot. Flint penetrates leaf tissue and moves to protect both sides of the leaf; and with vapor spread provides protection within hard-to-penetrate plant canopies. In addition, Flint offers flexiblity in application, as it can be used up to the day of harvest.

Flint is an excellent rotational fit with other Bayer portfolio fungicides, such as Serenade® Soil, Serenade® ASO, Serenade® Optimum and Scala® fungicides. With the establishment of the MRL for Flint in Canada, strawberry growers and pest control advisers will benefit from additional flexibility when choosing a solution to help them overcome tough disease issues and deliver the highest quality crop possible.

Bayer CropScience is committed to the horticulture market and continuously invests in the development of innovative products that enable growers to improve productivity and enhance crop yield and quality.
